Starting Monday, April 19 all Hawai‘i residents age 16+ will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination. This means 300,000 people will be newly eligible, bringing the total to more than 650,000 people in our state who are eligible and still unvaccinated.
Limited supply continues to be Hawaii’s biggest challenge to meeting the demand for vaccination. Here at the Hawai‘i Department of Health, we acknowledge how frustrating it is that there is not yet enough vaccine to go around. We are hopeful that our vaccine supply will increase early next month and we can look forward to increasing access. Thank you for your patience and persistence!

What vaccine options are available for 16 & 17 year olds?
The Pfizer vaccine is currently the only vaccine authorized for people under age 18. The Moderna vaccine can be given to anyone 18 and older. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is currently on pause but was previously approved for adults 18 and over.
If you are 16 or 17 years old, make sure the location you choose offers the Pfizer vaccine. If a parent or guardian will not attend the vaccine appointment with you, check with your vaccine provider about requirements for showing proof of parental/guardian consent.

How do I find an appointment?
Vaccine supplies and appointments are currently limited in many locations. There may be waitlists or delays in scheduling due to high demand. Getting an appointment will become easier as providers receive more doses and more vaccination sites open. There are several ways to search for an appointment:
Option 1: Check with your neighborhood pharmacies to see if they have appointments available. Visit the CDC’s VaccineFinder to check availability at your nearby pharmacies.
Option 2: O‘ahu residents 65+ who need assistance with registration and/or transportation to a vaccination site, may call 2-1-1 Aloha United Way for support.
Option 3: Visit your county webpage to view vaccination locations & providers:
